Nail Polish Picks for Christmas!

Hello Everyone!

It's the 23rd! I'm really excited for Christmas, for me there is always so much anticipation! I really enjoy the few days before Christmas, because everyone is buzzing with excitement and making last minute arrangements. Also Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day are great because you can spend time with family and friends- this year I'm seeing my grandad and step grandma on the morning of Christmas Eve, and some good family friends in the afternoon into evening, then spending Christmas Day with my parents, and Boxing Day with my Aunty, Uncle and cousins. Anyway, for this post I thought I'd share my top picks for nail polish this Christmas!

Just so you know, I haven't tried number 4, but I loved it so much, I had to post it on here! I'm really hoping to try it out soon!

1. Classic Matte Nail Paint Burgundy Crush (Barry M)

I think this colour is amazing and it's really classy and versatile for Christmas. This is probably the best quality nail polish I have ever used as well, I find it barely chips, is long lasting and application isn't too thin or thick. This is actually a matte shade, which is really on trend, however, if you want a shiny effect, you can use Barry M's base coat, top coat and nail hardener in one, which can be found here.

No7 Gel-Look Shine Nail Colour

Yet another brilliant nail colour for Christmas, I think red is a classic as you can get. With this gel-look style, you can create a great look for Christmas, that's super glossy, and well-finished. It's a good application, probably requiring 2 coats (as with pretty much all nail polishes- including Barry M), and shouldn't be disappointing. A fun extra
is using some gold or silver glitter coating, for some extra sparkle, though be careful choosing as some of this coatings don't stay on well.

3. Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours Quick Dry

I've used this colour in the past. It's a nice alternative to a typical red tone colour, while still staying a little festive. The quality of this polish is fairly good, especially after 2 or 3 applictaions, and it dries really quickly (as the name suggested). Whilst I wouldn't say its the best polish I've tried, it certainly isn't the worst. I also think this polish looks great with 'crackle' nail polish over it, I've used black crackle before, but I think there are several other colours that would look nice over it too.

4. Butter London Nail Polish British Racing Green (11ml)

(taken from the Butter London website)

I know some people will not like this colour at all, but I found this nail polish and I love it! I've seen pictures of it painted on nails, and I think it's great because it's not too light, and it seems fairly glossy. This is the only polish that I've listed, that I haven't tried, so unfortunately I can't give my opinion on the quality of it, but I personally think it's a great option for Christmas. I really want to buy this now, but I'm going to have to wait for a while because it is fairly expensive at £12!

5. Gelly Nail Effects- Sugar Apple

Unfortunately, the picture doesn't do this colour justice, it's got a much richer blue colour in real life, but this is a nice choice if you aren't into traditional or dark colours. This blue shade is quite summery, but can have a completely different effect if it's used in the winter, which is why it's in my top picks. Again, it's Barry M, so the quality is great, and this one has a gel finish, which I love, because it just makes it so glossy and pretty!

I will probably be wearing the burgundy colour this Christmas, although I always find it hard to choose a favourite!

Which colours do you like the best? Are there any colours you are loving that I haven't listed? Leave a comment below to tell me!

In case I don't post again before Christmas Day,

Christmas Playlist!

Christmas is getting even closer (I can't believe it's 10 days away now!), so I thought I'd list some of my favourite Christmas songs! These are just a few of my favourites, if you want to have a listen to any of them, just click the song title.

(for the latest version (Band Aid 30, click here)

So there are some of my picks, there are so many more, but these are some that I've been listening to recently during December.

I still haven't been able to do my French speaking exam, so if I don't post or reply to comments, it's because I still have to revise :(

Bye for now!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

It's nearly Christmas, and I don't know about you, but I am super excited. Every December I get really excited for Christmas, especially when all the decorations are up! I love it when I have the presents I've bought for people wrapped up, and I get so excited for when they open their gifts up! I also love having lots of events to get involved with, and everyone generally being festive!

Anyway, I thought I would share some pictures of getting my bedroom looking festive. Please bare in mind this is just my bedroom and not the whole house as I only started taking photos when I was decorating my bedroom, but I hope you enjoy!

This is all the decorations I'm going to have to manage to fit into the tree! By the way, being very nontraditional, I have a black Christmas tree, haha!

Christmas lights! One of the most frustrating things to get right, but for me, they're totally worth it, the tree looks so sparkly with them on!

I'm so sorry about the awful lighting, but this is one of my favourite decorations, I got it from a local shop, so I'm not sure whether anyone else could get their hands on one, but I love it so much!

My angel! I love this angel, because it's fairly subtle but just finishes off the tree!

Another one of my favourite baubles!

Present bauble! This one's super glittery but it's just so cute!

I'm sorry about the awful shot, I didn't realise how blurry it was, but here is a picture of the Christmas tree finished! The tree is from Tesco, although it is a few years old, but I'm sure they're still available.

Here are a couple of other decorations:

My robin figure/decoration. This was another item from a local shop! :)

 A mini decoration stocking!

Snow globe!

I hope you liked this little Christmas 'gallery', I really enjoyed decorating and taking photos! Also this post is up later than I planned, I originally planned it for Sunday, but left it too late, then I started doing it last night (Monday), but Blogger was lagging and not working well, so I've had to wait until tonight.

Leading up to Christmas, I'm planning to do a couple of Christmas-related posts, so I hope you enjoy them!

Bye for now!

Favourite Youtubers

People who know me will be probably be able to tell you that pretty much all my conversations start with '5 Seconds of Summer did...', 'This thing on Pinterest...' or 'I watched this really cool video on YouTube...', so, I thought I would post about some of my favourite youtubers!

Number 1: Zoella

(picture taken from Zoe's instagram, link to original picture is here)

I'm sure you've all heard of her, but Zoe was the first female youtuber I watched, and as soon as I watched her videos I loved them! She seemed relatable, witty and cute, and I felt like she focused on all sorts of things, such as hair, makeup, life and friends! I think this was one of the first videos I watched by her, and it was what made me want to subscribe: How To: My Quick and Easy Hairstyles. She also has a blog, which I'm in love with, and I'm so proud of her, because she's achieved so much over the past year, what with her new beauty range and book! Check out her latest videos here.

Number 2: Lucy and Lydia

(image taken from Lucy and Lydia's blog, you can view the image via the blog link below)

These twins are so relatable, friendly and bubbly, they make me smile so much, and also do amazing hair and makeup tutorials. If I could only watch one youtube channel for the rest of my life, it would be this one because I think they have such a great variety on their channel. They also have an amazing blog, and I think you should all check out their channel and their blog below:

Their Blog

Number 3: ThatcherJoe

(image taken from Joe's instagram, link to original image is here)

If I want to watch something to make me laugh, I usually go to Joe's channel, because most of his videos are light-hearted. He's also amazing at impressions and seems like he's prepared to try out anything for his dare videos. His channel can be found here.

Number 4: Sophie Foster

(photo taken from Sophie's instagram, to view original image, click here)

Sophie is about 2 years older than me, and she started making her videos when she was about 15. I love her Q&As, and she is always so gracious, and she never expected her youtube to be so well known. She almost has 20K subscribers, and I know she's worked really hard to reach that figure- I can remember watching her back when she had under 1000 subscribers. You guys should all check out her channel here.

So there are a few of my favourite youtubers, comment down below your favourites and why you like them!

My Top 5 Makeup Essentials!

Hello Everyone!

I want to tell you all about my favourite products in my makeup bag! I'm alwasy changing up the makeup I use, and trying new things, but this is a list of my current top products.

Number 1: No7 Match Made Concealer

I like this concealer for a couple reasons. Firstly, it is part of the Boots No7 skin match range, meaning I can match  it to my foundation shade exactly (although I went a shade lighter with this than my foundation, as I was paler when I bought this) and secondly, because it is in a stick form, it gives a better coverage over blemishes and spots than most liquid concealers I've ever tried, which are best for underneath your eye to lighten dark circles. I use it as a highlighter under my eyes first, using a concealer/large eyeshadow shading brush, and then over any spots using a small thin eyeliner brush. I'd totally recommend it. A cheaper alternative is this Collection (2000) liquid concealer, which is also amazing!

Number 2: No7 Essentially Natural Foundation

This foundation is really nice because it has a light-medium coverage, which means it can cover up minor blemishes, without being too heavy on your skin. It also contains SPF 15 (sun protection factor), so it's great for your skin to add protection, and is almost as light as the BB creams in this range. It's also part of the skin match range, and it's so easy to apply, whether with (clean!) fingers, or a brush. Go to your local Boots store and ask for a skin match test, then ask for a sample in your shade to try it out and see whether it's for you!

Here are some swatches- on the right is the concealer in Calico, and on the left is the foundation in Cool Vanilla. As you can see, the foundation has a much runnier, dewy texture, whereas the concealer is more of a creamy texture, and creates a more matte effect on the skin.Although the foundation is a shade darker, they are a pretty good match, and it looks fine when worn together.

Number 3: Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks

My Bobbi Brown blusher is a must in my makeup bag! I love it on my cheeks, because it looks so dewy and fresh and application is easy- you can use your fingers or a brush, but even Bobbi herself says she likes to apply with fingers a lot of the time! I'm not so keen to wear it on my lips, as it can look a little dry, however, using a lip balm first, then a light coverage of this can create a sheer, glossy tint. I'm pale skinned and have it in Pale Pink, but ask the people at the Bobbi Brown counter in your local department store which colour would be best for you! It is a little expensive, but I'm so glad I bought it!

Number 4: Miss Sporty Pump Up Lash Booster Mascara- Black

At only £3.99, this mascara is really good, and probably my favourite Miss Sporty product. I saw this advertised in a magazine ages ago, and I decided to try it, and have used it ever since. The selling point for me, was the fact that it offers up to 15x more volume, because of it's 'unique mega brush'. They're not lying! The brush is massive and makes my eyelashes long and thick- the only caution I would suggest is that, if you have quite short lashes, or small eyes, the brush may be a little big, so it may not be for you, but at the great price, I would totally recommend trying it to see if you like it!

Number 5: Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm

These lip balms are lovely, and come in a wide range now! I own the blue tube 'Hydrate', orange tube 'Cherry Me' and pink tube 'Pink Punch'. I find that applying the Hydrate one first gives my lips that added boost in moisture, before applying one of the two above shades to give some sheer tint! My lips are quite dark, meaning that Cherry Me isn't too heavy on my lips, and Pink Punch seems to be one of the most popular around the girls at my school! I'd definitely recommend purchasing a 'Hydrate' one first though (yellow and blue- or green for a mint hydrate), because although the tinted ones are nice, they don't seem to be as hydrating, which is why I like applying both types.

Comment below your top 5 makeup essentials, tell me whether you've used any of these products, and feel free to recommend something new for me to try, as I really like finding new great products!

April Buys!

Hi everyone!

Having saved up some money recently, I decided it was time to treat myself and go for a little shopping trip! I really wanted to update my wardrobe, so firstly, I popped to New Look and bought a few summery tops.

The middle top is a floaty exotic design crop top, which was the most expensive being £17.99. The top in the right hand corner is an aztec design tight crop top, costing £5.99, and the shoulder/short sleeve blouse in the left hand corner cost me £14.99.
The accessories and foundation (the foundation wasn't bought from New Look) in that picture are shown below:

This is a Boots No7 foundation- the Essentially Natural foundation, medium- light coverage in Cool Vanilla, £7.50, along with some (fake) gold earrings from Accessorize, £2 in the sale, and a necklace from New Look that looks like 3 necklaces that cost me £2, after being reduced in the sale from £4.99.

I really wanted some new accesories since I don't really own that much of this kind of thing, and lots
of my friends have been wearing chunky necklaces like the one above recently, so I'm glad I found one.

Finally, I got some new beach wear ready for summer and a holiday I have coming up! All items shown below are from Matalan.

The peach flip-flops were only £3, the gold sandals were £6, the bottom part of the bikini was £4, and the bikini top was £8. However, I got a 10% discount (an offer currently being held by Matalan) so everything was a bit cheaper! Matalan is great for things like this because it's reasonably cheap, and good quality! I can't wait to wear these things!
So those are my April buys, I think I got a lot of great stuff this month, and I'm well prepared for summer, now that I've updated my wardrobe a bit!

Bye!
